Marketing without the ick: how I found my own voice
Share
I used to think that to “do marketing right,” I had to change who I was.
Talk louder.
Use power words.
Make my offer sound more exciting, more urgent, more... whatever.
The problem?
None of that felt like me.
I’m a coach because I believe in quiet power.
In deep connection.
In giving people space to come home to themselves — not pushing them into a funnel.
But the marketing advice out there didn’t seem built for that.
Everything felt like a trick:
- Agitate their pain
- Frame the offer as a fix
- Create fear of missing out
And yes — those techniques can work.
But they made me feel gross.
Like I was manipulating people I actually wanted to care for.
That’s when I realized:
If I wanted to do this long-term, I needed to build my business around my values, not a template.
So I reworked everything.
Not to be louder, or better, or more polished —
but to be truer.
I started with clarity.
Clarity about who I help.
What they struggle with.
What I actually offer.
And how I naturally communicate — with warmth, not pressure.
The Customer StarMap™ Power Workshop gave me the reflection space to name all that.
It felt more like journaling than marketing.
And it gave me messaging I could stand behind.
Now when I show up, I don’t feel fake.
I don’t cringe when I hit “publish.”
I don’t overthink how I sound.
Because I’m just being me.
And the right people are drawn to that.
